What is a pronoun?
A pronoun is a small word that takes the place of a name or a thing.
We use pronouns so we do not say the same name again and again.
Subject pronouns tell us who does the action, or who the sentence is about.
Before and after
Maria is my sister. Maria is from Mexico. Maria is my sister. She is from Mexico.(She = my sister Maria)
Tom is my brother. Tom is happy. Tom is my brother. He is happy.(He = my brother Tom)
The book is blue. The book is new. The book is blue. It is new.(It = the book)
The second sentence is shorter and sounds more natural. The pronoun points back to the name.
